| near impossible to "find" an exhaust for a 96. the flanges are angled differently. this can "easily" be fixed by cutting off the flanges and welding them back on in the right angle. the car has 2 extra O2 sensor behind the cats. so if you want to get wider mid-pipes you need to get some O2 bungs welded in or come up with a module to fool the ECU. these issues are really bugging me since my next upgrade is a full exhaust system. i'm plan to get everything from specialtyZ and just get some O2 bungs welded in the back (so i don't have to deal with the flange angle thing). i have a 93 engine with a 96 ECU. the fuel maps aren't tuned for the 90-95 cams. sourcing an ECU is near impossible. i had a 96 NA and no one would accept that ECU as a core exchange for a 96 TT. i bought an ECU from the dealer (and paid the $100 core harge) but they got me an auto 96 and wouldn't let me return or exhange it. when it came time to smog, i failed because the ECU was looking for an automatic controller. so i had to buy a JWT ECU for 1200 because they would not accept any of my 3 ECUs as a core. everything else is pretty much the same. i love my Z and wouldn't trade her or sell her for anything else. i'm too attached at this point.
